Pre-Kindergarten Class:

Gloryland Preschool’s Pre-Kindergarten class offers a more rigorous class for four-year olds who may miss the Kindergarten age requirement.  This class will spend a great deal of time on letter and number recognition and will offer many educational challenges to your child.  Using the Sunform Learning System, concepts such as letter sounds and phonics will further your child’s language arts skills.  To build on these language skills, your child will be encouraged to write in a daily journal and to put together a portfolio of work that will go home at the end of the year.  In mathematics, your child will work on sequencing, patterning, counting, and addition skills.  Creative challenges will be offered in music, art and science as well.  Each of these offerings will build on your child’s longer attention span to explore areas more intensively.      The Pre-Kindergarten Class will have the opportunity to engage in stimulating educational scenarios in any of our permanent centers.  These centers will be supported by special centers throughout the year as well.  Our permanent centers include: 1.)    The writing center which includes notebooks, stencils, alphabet writing exercises, journals, pencils, pens, stickers, envelopes and cards. 2.)    The small manipulatives center which includes puzzles, small blocks, board games, counting and alphabet activities, matching games, and phonics games. 3.)    The large motor center which includes big blocks, rocking boat, and balance beam. 4.)    The sensory table which contains sand or water. 5.)    The art center which will have a selection of markers, crayons, chalk, glue, play dough, scissors, and paint. 6.)    The science center which includes magnifying glasses, scales, magnets, and exploration tools.  This center will also house our on-going science experiments. Our special centers will be specially designed to explore new areas for your child’s skill development.  These areas may include, but are not limited to sign language, foreign language and intensive music and art experiences.  We look forward to offering your child a variety of educational challenges and intellectual stimulation!
